Perhaps the #1 dream people have in Hawaii is having their own fruit and nut trees in their own yard. There's a profound magic in picking delicious fruit directly from the tree and eating it right there. It connects us to nature and to the simple joy of being alive and in a body.
We specialize in varieties of tropical fruit and nut trees for people who want to grow their own food. Whenever possible, we grow seedling fruit and nut trees. We hand-select our seeds, based primarily on the taste of the fruit, picking from a wide range of sources. We are keen to high-quality varieties, and this is what we look for in propogating.
For species that are not dependable from seed, we offer grafted and air-layered fruit trees. Most of our grafted and air-layered trees come from a wholesale nursery that specializes in grafted citrus and other popular tropical fruits. This nursery doesn't follow organic growing methods (which we regret); but they have a steady supply of many of the trees people want, so we've decided to sell their trees until such time as we're growing our own organically.
For details on the many varieties of tropical fruit trees, we recommend the book Fruits of Warm Climates, by Julia Morten. You can visit this book on-line to read about almost every variety of fruit tree we sell.
Below is a list of fruit and nut trees that people grow in Hawaii, most of which we have for sale. If you see something you want that isn't on our current price list, ask us and we'll see if we can locate or propagate that tree for you.
